Barton family finds forever home at Greenbooth

“We weren’t seriously thinking about moving… until we saw that view.”

Greenbooth Village has welcomed its latest new residents, with the arrival of the Barton family. John and Chantelle Barton, along with their three-year-old son Wilfred, plus Lola the dog, have moved into an impressive five-bedroom Holtham directly overlooking the Greenbooth Reservoir.

Their beautiful new home couldn’t be better located for John, who grew up nearby and who has moved from just a mile down the road. “I can’t see us ever wanting to leave here, where else could we find all of this?” said John.

“The location is simply superb. The views are stunning and the development is lovely, the stream running through it is reminiscent of my parent’s village in the Cotswolds. It’s tranquil up here and makes for a great place for Wilfred to grow up, we already enjoy regularly walking Lola around the reservoir.

“My businesses are in Rochdale, which is an easy commute from here, and Manchester city centre which isn’t too far either. But it feels like we’re right out in the countryside here. We’re getting to know our neighbours and it’s a really relaxed community.”

The family wasn’t initially looking to move but seeing a friend’s new build elsewhere in Manchester sparked their imagination. “We liked the idea of starting a fresh and putting our own stamp on a place, and I knew the only developer building quality houses in the area I wanted was Russell Homes, so we came to visit.

“The foundations were in for this house and we just fell in love with the view. We said we’d think about it, but by the next morning we’d put down a deposit. We weren’t seriously thinking about moving, until we saw that view.”

The house itself is just perfect for the young family, John’s wife Chanttelle particularly likes the open plan living space and the property’s traditional stone façade. “With a young child we’ll be entertaining at home rather than going out, so the kitchen diner opening onto the terrace with the views is just perfect.

“The finish is fantastic, you can see it’s a quality build, and we love that’s it’s built from stone just like houses throughout Norden. Buying with Russell Homes was really straightforward and they have been great helping us sort out any small issues. We would definitely recommend buying with Russell Homes.”

The Holtham is a traditionally-styled double fronted detached house with two bay windows and five spacious bedrooms. The biggest selling point, according to John, is the open plan kitchen, dining, living space which spans the entire rear elevation and opens on to the garden through three sets of French doors.

Accommodation is split over two and a half storeys. The ground floor also has a lounge at the front and a separate study or play room, utility and WC. The first floor houses a master suite, complete with shower room, two double bedrooms and a family bathroom, while the second floor is ideal for older children or guests with two double bedrooms and another bathroom.

Gill Richardson, Russell Homes sales manager, is delighted to welcome the family to Greenbooth Village, where there are just five properties left on the market.

She said: “It’s wonderful to see John and Chantelle enjoying their new home, we hope they will be very happy here. Their property is simply gorgeous and they’ve decorated it beautifully.

“Theirs is one of the larger housetypes at Greenbooth Village, and there is just one other Holtham available. It’s no surprise we’re down to the last few to sell, this development really is lovely and the setting is hard to beat. With just five left to sell, I’d urge anyone thinking about making the move not to delay getting in touch.”
