Out and about this Christmas with Russell Homes
Here at Russell Homes we’re all looking forward to snuggling down by a warm fire and enjoying time with friends and family.
But once all of the turkey and trimmings have been eaten, and faces are well and truly stuffed with Christmas cake, Yuletide logs and mince pies, it could be time to get out and about for some fresh air and a bit of exercise.

Greenbooth Reservoir Walk
Type OL12 7TQ into the Sat Nav for parking on Overtown Lane near to Greenbooth Village.
Greenbooth Reservoir provides a number of walking options as there are actually four reservoirs which can be walked individually or linked together for a longer visit. For a family stroll there is the option to walk along the western edge, from the water tower following the path up to the left and as far along as you like before turning back the same route.
For those wanting a little longer to soak up the views, there’s a short 3km circuit of Greenbooth Reservoir itself which takes just over an hour here.
At 6.53km there’s the two-hour Greenbooth Circular which takes in all four reservoirs, Greenbooth, Naden Lower, Middle and Higher. The route can be found here.
Or there’s a slightly longer version at 8km or 2.5 hours, which starts and ends in the village of Norden here.
Holmes Chapel Walks
In Holmes Chapel the Parish Council has produced an excellent leaflet outlining a series of walks around the village and through the surrounding fields, with walks from 1.5 to 4 miles detailed, see here.
Route 3 is the closest to the Saltersford Gardens development, which is on the bend in the A535 at the western edge of the village.
While an excellent 10.5km circuit of the River Dane sets off from just opposite Saltersford Gardens, type our postcode CW4 8AL into the Sat Nav to find the starting point for this walk here which includes a stop for lunch at the Swettenham Arms.
