Our favourite interior design trends for 2026

Believe it or not, another new year is here, and so are the latest interior design trends.

Whether you’ve set your sights on moving into your dream home this year or are looking to breathe some new life into your new build or older property, these trends are all the inspiration you need.

Interior design trend 1: Warm, nature-inspired colour palettes

After years of cool greys and stark whites dominating interiors, 2026 brings a welcome shift towards warmer, more emotive colours. Think earthy hues, such as terracotta, clay, honeyed wood tones, olive green and deep blues that are capable of creating grounded and inviting spaces.

When paired with natural materials, like wood and stone, and introduced through painted walls, textiles, cabinetry and accent pieces, these colours can make a real impact.

Interior design trend 2: Neo Deco

Also referred to as New Art Deco, this exciting trend is all about reviving the glitz and glamour of the 1920s to 30s Art Deco era, but with a modern twist. We’re talking bold geometry, metallic accents and sophisticated detailing in hardware, lighting and furniture.

From a practical perspective, this involves brass lighting fixtures, fluted cabinetry and statement mirrors; all elements that are capable of immediately elevating interiors without overwhelming them. This resurgence reflects a broader move away from purely minimal spaces towards expressive, curated interiors.

Interior design trend 3: Curves and organic shapes

Incorporating curves and organic silhouettes throughout the home is a major focus this year. Furniture with rounded edges, whether it’s a sofa, dining chair or headboard, instantly adds a sense of flow and softness that contrasts with rigid, linear design.

Curved furniture and sculptural pieces make spaces, ranging from new homes to period properties, feel welcoming and tactile, encouraging homeowners to interact with their environment in a more relaxed way.

Interior design trend 4: Comfort-first furniture

Comfort is no longer an afterthought, it’s central to furniture design. Deep-seated sofas, modular seating and lounge-worthy pieces are set to dominate interiors this year, guiding a shift away from rigid, formal layouts towards spaces focused on relaxation and connection.

Modular pieces, in particular, are gaining traction for their flexibility and go hand-in-hand with new build layouts. They can adapt to various uses and room sizes, making them ideal for evolving lifestyles, whether you’re entertaining, working from home or enjoying some quality family time.

Interior design trend 5: Textured and tactile layers

Textures are increasingly playing a leading role alongside colour when it comes to creating engaging spaces. Layered finishes, ranging from textured wall treatments and plaster to woven textiles and patterned rugs, add depth and personality in new homes and older properties.

Rather than flat surfaces, designers are encouraging homeowners to mix materials and textures. This tactile approach makes rooms feel lived-in and comfortable while also being a key consideration for creating homes that are designed to support everyday life.

Interior design trend 6: Blending indoor and outdoor living

Finally, interior design isn’t just confined to the indoors. Thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces, patios and gardens can be designed so they effectively act as an extension of your home. Blurring indoor and outdoor boundaries can support people’s lifestyle and everyday wellbeing, especially if they spend a lot of time at home.

Whether it’s a cosy outdoor lounge or a dining space framed by greenery, these areas expand living options and increase the functional footprint of homes of all styles and sizes.

One thing’s for sure, the 2026 interior design landscape is set to be shaped by warmth, texture, comfort and functionality, creating practical spaces that feel intentional and are enjoyed for many years to come.
