Welcome to Wincham
Our new-build home development Brook View is situated in the lovely social village Wincham, the perfect setting for your new home.
Matilda Foundation FC
When moving to a new home, it’s good to know you will find yourself in a friendly community. Wincham is known for pulling people together for good, like the Matilda Foundation football match hosted at Witton Albion’s grounds.
The match was set up by local man Matt Greenaway, in memory of Matilda Cosgrove, who was tragically stillborn. After hearing her parents, Mark and Stacie’s story, he wanted to do something for them, and after discussing it with them, they all came up with a family fun day.
Many local businesses got involved to show support with a raffle, bouncy castle, balloon artists and stalls from local vendors. Northern stars from Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, SAS Who Dares Wins, Dancing on Ice, and many more showed up to play the football match in Matilda’s memory against a team of local lads as Matilda Foundation FC.
The day and match were a roaring success for the foundation, a lovely tribute to Matilda and a touching example of how a community can come together for good.
Wincham Parish Post
The village has a very active Parish Post Facebook that keeps residents of the village up to date with local news and activities.
In the area, you can take part in many annual events. These include the scarecrow competition where everyone puts a scarecrow on display, creating the Wincham Scarecrow Trail. Each year there’s a different theme, and there are multiple categories to be won! If scarecrows aren’t for you, maybe the Christmas Lighten Up to Brighten Up festival. The categories are colourful, creative and fun, and you’re tasked with decorating your house with Christmas lights to spread Christmas cheer and of course be in with the chance of winning a prize.
Current residents are coming together to plan the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebration in June 2022. They’re working as a community to obtain funding to throw a street party over the Bank Holiday with bunting, maypole dancing, picnics, classic wartime games, create a crown competition, and so much more. It’s yet another chance for the community to come together and bring joy to the village.
There are also more weekly events and clubs to join that are hosted in the community. Some of those have included Mindful Movement at Baron Quays, including Tai Chi and Qigong. Or you could even join a social netball league that welcomes women of all ages (above 14) and all fitness levels and abilities.
