Russell Homes’ Christmas donation to toiletry bank, Bare Necessities, gets doubled during their Christmas initiative.

Bare Necessities is a toiletry bank based in South Manchester, determined to help local people have equal access to personal hygiene products. They work with local organisations and charities to collect, package and distribute toiletry and hygiene essentials.

From the 3rd – 10th of December, Bare Necessities took part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024, which ensured all donations received within this one week period, got doubled.

The charity exceeded their original goal and all donations will help the team provide more toiletry essentials in 2025, to those who need it the most in the area.

Chair of Bare Necessities, Wendy Hobson, said: “The demand for the toiletry and hygiene basics we supply continues to escalate. We are approached on a weekly basis by new charities and organisations for help, alongside the 32 we already support each month. They inform us, that without Bare Necessities, this need would simply be unmet. Taking part in initiatives like the Big Give, can help continue our work in 2025, to alleviate hygiene poverty in the local area.”

“Many end users have different requirements and we try to take all of this into consideration by providing a variety of bags, rather than ‘one size fits all’. We offer a range of full-sized toiletries to food banks, dental hygiene packs as part of our ‘Give a smile’ campaign, teen survival packs for boys and girls, ‘Five days of dignity’ packs for our street homeless charities, washing detergent for our ‘SUDs Give a wash’ campaign and operation mini & totes for our women’s charities.”

Russell Homes donated £200 to the hygiene charity during their Christmas Challenge, resulting in the team receiving double the amount by match funding through the Big Give.

Andrew Russell, Joint Managing Director of Russell Homes, said: “Bare Necessities is a great charity working to alleviate hygiene poverty in the local area. We are privileged to have such an amazing charity, dedicated to this cause, in our local area. We’re delighted to offer our support to Bare Necessities this Christmas, and going into the new year.”

Wendy Hobson, added: “Thank you so much for your generous donation to the Big Give campaign we are navigating this year. Your Christmas donation means we can continue our vital work and deliver hygiene essentials and toiletries, that we all enjoy so much, to those who need it most, on an ongoing basis into the coming year. Thank you for choosing us.”
